DOVER, NH -- Planet Fitness garnered several thousand new memberships this month with a promotional campaign that allowed consumers to pay $1 down for $10-per-month memberships.
John Craig, brand development director for Planet Fitness, would not give out a specific number but says the company produced a six-figure total of new memberships during the April 1-7 campaign. The markets which benefited the most from the campaign were New York (50,000 new members), Boston (28,000), Philadelphia (21,000) and Orlando (14,000).
The Dover, NH-based company also has network TV advertising in 25 markets, plus cable TV and radio, Craig says. During the campaign, a Planet Fitness ad ran in Times Square in New York.
Planet Fitness has 275 clubs in 31 states (with more than 450 clubs in development) and almost 2 million members.Want to use this article? Click here for options!
