Max Fitness is opening a 20,000-square-foot club this month in Fort Wayne, IN, with a grand opening ceremony planned for April. The multimillion-dollar investment will mark Max Fitness’ largest entrance into a new market. The Fort Wayne club is part of a growth phase launched under the umbrella concept created by FIT Brands six months ago.

“There’s an energy and vibe around Max Fitness that we are eager to share with the Fort Wayne community,” Scott Dierckman, a longtime club operator in Fort Wayne, said in a release from the company. “Fort Wayne is ready for something new. We’re shaking things up by bringing a new class of clubs to the area while offering more value for your money.”

Along with the new club, Max Fitness has rebranded two former Cardinal Fitness clubs. All three clubs will now offer group cycling, Zumba, Bodypump, personal training, small group training and boot camps. The newest club also will include a cardio movie theater, a 2,000-square-foot Astroturf training area, and a cycling and group exercise studio.

FIT Brands executives Joel Tallman, Charlie Lindsey and Tim Goodwin assisted Dierckman in bringing the Max Fitness club to Fort Wayne.

“Fort Wayne offers Max Fitness a fantastic community to make its biggest debut to date,” Tallman said in a statement. “We know residents are clamoring for a new workout option where they can immerse themselves in a warm, welcome environment that encourages active lifestyles.”

Tallman projects that by the end of 2012, the Max Fitness brand will include up to 50 clubs, combining both rebranded and newly constructed gyms. Already, 16 Max Fitness clubs are operating throughout the United States, nearly double the number of clubs from three months ago. Max Fitness also recently opened its doors at existing gyms in suburban Memphis, TN, and Colorado Springs, CO.
