In the wake of an arrest of one of its trainers, Lifestyle Family Fitness says it is cooperating with authorities who say he had $20,000 worth of steroids at his home.
Nicholas Munson Troemner was arrested on Jan. 20 along with his wife, Veronica Troemner, after authorities seized the suspected amount of steroids along with marijuana and firearms at their home in Naples, FL. The steroid bust is among the biggest in Collier County, FL, according to local media reports.
Nicholas Troemner was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell, possession of marijuana over 20 grams, possession of a firearm by a Florida convicted felon, possession of ammunition by a Florida convicted felon, failure to register as a convicted felon and possession of narcotic paraphernalia, according to local reports. Troemner was arrested in 2003 on a charge of carrying a concealed firearm and was sentenced to 18 months of state probation.
Veronica Troemner, who is identified on police reports as a housewife and is not affiliated with Lifestyle Family Fitness, faces charges of possession of marijuana over 20 grams and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. The investigation began on an anonymous tip.
“Lifestyle Family Fitness believes that good nutrition, regular exercise and proper rest is key to a healthy life. As such, we have a ‘zero tolerance’ policy regarding the use of steroids or other performance-enhancing drugs in our culture,” Ervin Zubic, vice president of personal training for St. Petersburg, FL-based Lifestyle, said in a statement. “Further, we conduct thorough background checks on all LFF employees before they join our team, and no issues were found at the time the individual in question was hired. We are cooperating fully with authorities on this incident, and will respond appropriately once all of the facts have been reviewed.”
The company also says that signs are posted in Lifestyle clubs that read: “Steroid use is strictly forbidden. Please report any suspicious activity to the police.”
