Life Time Fitness, Town Sports International (TSI) and Crunch have each announced new clubs within the past week.
Today, Life Time announced its first expansion into Canada. The Chanhassen, MN-based company will open a 143,000-square-foot club in March 2012 in Mississauga, Ontario. Life Time has 92 clubs in 21 states.
On Saturday, TSI opened a New York Sports Club in Garnerville, NY. The 26,000-square-foot club is the first location the New York-based company has opened in more than two years.
“We’re excited to announce that we’re opening 30 days earlier than scheduled due to the overwhelming response from the community during the two months of pre-sales,” TSI CEO Bob Giardina said in a statement.
SmarTrend, which analyzes stocks, reported today that Life Time and TSI are ranked 1-2 in the leisure facilities industry as measured by beta.
Crunch, which has four clubs in Miami, will open its first franchise location in Florida in January. The club will be in Naples, FL.
The New York-based company also announced the launch of a charity check-in campaign to raise money for PACER’s (Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Rights) National Bullying Prevention Center. Throughout the month of October, Crunch will donate $1 to the center—up to $25,000—every time a member or nonmember checks in on Facebook to any of the company’s 34 clubs.
