BUFORD, GA -- The manager of an LA Fitness in Buford, GA, has been arrested for allegedly breaking into lockers and stealing members’ valuables, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
The arrest of Mark Medrano took place on March 27 after an off-duty police officer caught Medrano going through lockers at the LA Fitness. A stolen laptop computer, a wedding ring and bolt cutters were among the items found in Medrano’s gym bag, Gwinnett County police said. Police said Medrano may also have used a machine at his home to clone stolen credit cards and commit identity fraud.
The victims of the thefts were still inside the club at the time of the arrest, according to the report, and they positively identified the stolen property as theirs.
Medrano was charged with one count of theft by receiving, two counts of criminal attempt to commit a crime and one count of possession of tools for commission of crime, the newspaper reported.
