DALLAS -- Last year, Gold’s Gym, Dallas, announced it had some aggressive expansion plans in the works. Gold’s is following up on those plans by opening 16 franchise-owned locations (10 in the United States) this month alone.
The 10 U.S. Gold’s locations opening this month are: Jacksonville, FL; Colorado Springs, CO; Grand Junction, CO; Bismarck, ND; Pocatello, ID; Chambersburg, PA; Commerce, CA; Woodbury, MN: Teterboro, NJ; and Avondale, AZ. Gold’s also is opening clubs in India, Indonesia, the Philippines and its first club in Spain.
The company said last year that it plans to open 200 facilities in the United States by 2010, increasing the number of franchised U.S. locations from 465 to more than 650. Gold’s already had signed franchise agreements for more than 100 locations as of late last year.
“We look forward to propelling growth through franchise and corporate-owned locations throughout large and small markets worldwide,” Keith Albright, senior vice president of Gold’s Gym franchising, said in a statement from the company.
