Genesis Health Clubs, Wichita, KS, recently acquired two new clubs in Kansas, one each in Lawrence and Leavenworth.
The two clubs were formerly known as Maximus Fitness & Wellness, based in Topeka, KS. The sale was finalized in July.
Genesis plans to do an entire “facelift” to each club, according to a company statement. The renovations will include additional cardio and weight machines, remodeled locker rooms, free towel service, expanded staffed hours, and more group and personal training options.
Genesis Health Clubs Owner Rodney Steven II told the Wichita Eagle that he hopes to add another club in Lawrence.
“I’ve been trying to go to the Lawrence market for over five years,” Steven told the newspaper, “so I know it like the back of my hand.”
Genesis, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, now has nine clubs, including four in Wichita and one each in Hutchinson, Salina and Emporia, KS. Steven told the Eagle that the Emporia location has remained open while undergoing construction and will soon have a grand reopening.
The company also manages the Wichita Ice Center, and Steven says he plans to add a club there in the future.
