NEW YORK — The economy is forcing health clubs to look in some strange places to flush out extra revenues.
FLUSH media has expanded its restroom-advertising concept to include sports and fitness club venues with an exclusive indoor advertising space contract with Town Sports International (TSI).
“We are very protective of our members and want to ensure that they are not bombarded by advertisements when they are in our clubs,” TSI's director of corporate marketing, Kristine Eglitis, said in a release.
“Restroom signage is an ideal medium because it allows advertisers to reach our members without distracting them from their workouts.”
The 125 TSI clubs represents a potential of 992 advertising frames for advertisers. In addition to not bombarding its members, TSI will gain an unspecified percentage of the gross revenue of advertising.
Mark Ghermezian, president of FLUSH media, estimated that the TSI frames will reach 1.5 million consumers, creating 12.6 million monthly impressions.
“TSI club members,” he added, “are health conscious, stylish and are committed to being physically active.
This demographic represents large buyers of CDs, videos, computers, software, sporting equipment and various health and beauty products, providing many endless opportunities for advertisers in these categories.”
