In today's belt-tightening climate it makes more sense than ever to take care of all your business needs in as few moves as possible. For the fitness industry, next month's Club Industry 2002 in Chicago, Oct. 9-11 at the McCormick Place, offers a one-stop shop for products and education.

With 225 exhibitors filling the exhibition hall Club Industry 2002 allows fitness pros the opportunity to try, examine and buy (much at special show rates) the latest cardio and strength equipment, software, nutritional products, entertainment systems, flooring and more. To really put the equipment through the paces don't miss the early morning workouts on Oct. 11 and 12.

But shopping for new products and services aren't the only reasons to attend Club Industry 2002. The conference halls at the McCormick center will be teeming with information-hungry professionals looking for ways to improve their businesses and stay ahead of the trends.

With seminar tracks covering such topics as business and financial management, sales, marketing and promotion, people management, personal training and more there is something new for every member of a facility's staff to learn.

Highlighting the more than 100 sessions, many of which qualify for continuing education credits, is the keynote address on Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. “Uprooting the Couch Potato: How Fitness Facilities Can Motivate Inactive Americans,” will be delivered by Lynn Swann, chairman, The President's Council On Physical Fitness & Sports and NFL Hall of Fame receiver.

And don't miss the Club Industry Spa Experience, a true-to-life oasis on the show floor. The spa experience will give attendees a chance to learn about the bottom-line benefits of incorporating day spa services into fitness clubs through a special free address by Sheila Cluff, owner of The Oaks at Ojai and the Palms at Palm Springs.

Other free presentations will include: The Active Lifestyle Program of the President's Challenge on Oct. 10; Dealing with Difficult People or How to Communicate with All Behavioral Types on Oct. 11. Also on Oct. 11 don't miss a free panel discussion moderated by Club Industry Editor-in-Chief John Agoglia. The session, “Upcoming Innovations That Will Change the Face of the Club Industry,” will look at innovations and new technology from the supply side that will affect the growth of our industry and your facility. The panel features Rudy Fabiano of Fabiano Designs, Ken Lucas of Matrix Fitness Systems, Michael Scott Scudder of Fitness Focus Companies, Roy Simonson of FreeMotion Fitness, and Ronale Tucker of Fitness Management magazine.

Jam-packed with exhibitors and education Club Industry 2002 will certainly provide attendees with a bang for their buck. There is still time to make plans. Register online at www.clubindustryshow.com or call 800-927-5007.
