GRANBURY, TX — Early last month, Performance Zone Training and Fitness Center's third annual fun run, Run for the Hills 5K and 1-mile walk/run, raised more than $10,000 for Happy Hill Farm Academy, a school for at-risk children in Granbury, TX. More than 250 runners participated, and Rayfield Wright, 2006 NFL Hall of Fame Inductee who played 13 years with the Dallas Cowboys, served as the official starter of the race and handed out awards to runners.

“We are always looking at giving back to the community, and we wanted to do something to help out the kids,” says Mark Roozen, owner and director of the Performance Zone Training and Fitness Center. “Happy Hill Farm does amazing work with troubled children. The trouble is, once the kids finish high school, and if they go to college, they don't have the support from family, friends, etc. to meet some of the money needs for college, and Happy Hill doesn't have the funds to assist those kids.”

To help with this gap, the Performance Zone created the run to generate money for some of the children in Happy Hill Farm's athletic program to go to college. Depending on the money generated by the run, Roozen divides it among the children that have shown team spirit, are hard workers or have the “heart of a champion.”
