Health clubs in the spotlight.

* Planet Fitness opened its latest health club on Route 70 in Cherry Hill, N.J. The 30,000-square-foot facility can handle a maximum of 4,000 members. Members receive a fitness evaluation handled by a nurse and a free monthly with a personal trainer.

* Horizon Properties is developing an all-purpose indoor sports and fitness facility in Taylor, Mich. The facility is without a name, and its grand opening has not been set yet. The club will include cardio and fitness programs designed to meet individual needs in every age group and physical condition.

* Bristol, Pa.-based Nirvana Athletic & Fitness Center has announced the addition of Visionary Trainers to its personal-training program. Visionary Trainers will be offering its services at all four Nirvana locations.

* More than 200 people participated in Connect 4 Fitness, a four-month motivational program at the Edward Health & Fitness Centers (EHFC) in Naperville, Ill. The program encouraged EHFC members to try new exercise formats, attend different types of classes and get to know their exercise instructions and each other on a first-name basis. Each month, participants earned points for attending a new fitness class, trying a different exercise format, wearing a name tag while working out, and taking part in other designated EHFC events. Members with 36 points got a chance to win special prizes.
