DENVER – Pura Vida Fitness and Spa will become the anchor tenant of a four-story building in Denver’s Cherry Creek market. The facility will include a 4,000-square foot spa, a street-level café, appointed locker rooms, Kinesis and Pilates studios and group cycling and group exercise classes.
Pura Vida, which will open in January 2008, will occupy approximately 30,000 square feet on four levels and will operate as a membership-based, exclusive adult-only health club and spa. J. Madden, the project’s architect and founder who also owns the Greenwood Village Athletic Club in the Denver area, told the Rocky Mountain News that Pura Vida will take part of the first floor and basement and all of the second, third and fourth floors of the building. Madden adds that the fourth floor spa will be open to the public while the club will be for members only.
Pura Vida means “pure life” in Spanish. The term is used by native Costa Ricans to describe a state of mind that exists in the country.
“We believe we well bring a similar state of wellness and positive feelings to our members through the design, layout, staff and management of Pura Vida,” Madden says.
