NEW YORK -- Crunch Chairman Mark Mastrov says a recent lawsuit against the company prior to his involvement with Crunch is likely frivolous.
In the lawsuit filed last week, a woman claims she was injured after she slid down a pole while taking a Crunch pole-dancing class. The alleged incident occurred last June during Crunch’s bankruptcy proceedings and before Mastrov and his New Evolution Fitness Co. officially took over the chain last September.
“We’ve yet to even see this, so there’s not much to say publicly at this time,” Mastrov says.
Nicholas Warywoda, the lawyer for Sue Ann Wee, says Wee seriously hurt both her shoulders when she slid down the pole and fell on the floor. Warywoda also says Wee told an instructor that she could not hold herself up during an upside-down maneuver, but the instructor did not help her.
Wee is seeking unspecified damages.
