NEW YORK -- Crunch, New York, may have filed for bankruptcy in May, but that hasn’t stopped the company from going forward with new ideas. This week, Crunch launched its first-ever film contest called Gym Shorts. The grand prize is $10,000 and a one-year Crunch membership.
Contestants are asked to submit no more than three videos, each 30 seconds to 3 minutes in length, based on the company’s “no judgments” slogan. Submissions will be accepted from July 15 through Sept. 1. Crunch will determine up to 25 finalists and present their videos on www.crunchgymshorts.com. The public will determine the winner by an online vote.
Crunch facilities are not available for filming but Crunch has created a toolkit on the Gym Shorts Web site that includes the company’s logo, fonts and color palette. In addition to the grand prize, the winning contestant will travel to New York for the premiere screening event.
“To us, no judgments is about feeling free to be who you are and getting just what you want out of exercise, and we want to give the Crunch community a unique way to express what this powerful idea means to them,” Christina DeGuardi, Crunch’s vice president of marketing, said in a statement. “Gym Shorts is for anyone and everyone who has something to say about no judgments, and we’re looking forward to capturing this philosophy through film.”
