This issue contains the Top 100 clubs list, an interesting look at who is moving up in the industry and who may be moving down.

This was the first year we included franchisors on the list — although they were only able to offer the revenue from corporate-owned clubs and franchising/licensing fees paid to them by their franchisees/licensees. This meant the inclusion of several new companies on the list, including Anytime Fitness, Powerhouse Gyms International and Snap Fitness. However, some large franchisors, such as Gold's Gym International and Curves, did not submit their forms.

Club owners of some other club companies that probably deserve to be on the list also chose not to submit their forms this year. We've included a sidebar of those companies within the story. We hope that next year they will change their minds and submit their forms so that the list is as complete and thorough as possible. You can check out the 2008 Top 100 list on page 36.

Best Programs

The Best of the Best awards program deadline has been extended to July 25. If you haven't submitted your club's best programs in this contest, go to http://fitnessbusinesspro.com/images/bobEntryForm08.pdf for the entry form. The cost to enter is $40 per entry.

Winners will be featured in an issue of the magazine and will receive an award at the Club Industry show on Oct. 17 in Chicago. Each winner will receive up to three free registrations to the Club Industry show.
