NEW YORK -- A former fitness club owner linked to the Roger Clemens steroids case has reportedly been issued a subpoena to appear before a Washington, DC, grand jury.

Kelly Blair, who used to own 1-on-1 Elite Personal Fitness in the Houston suburb of Pasadena, TX, before the club closed last year, was issued the subpoena on Monday, according to the New York Daily News. Several of Blair’s former associates at the gym also received subpoenas, the newspaper reported.

The grand jury is investigating whether Clemens, a former baseball star who last pitched for the New York Yankees in 2007, lied to Congress in 2008 about using performance-enhancing drugs, such as steroids and human growth hormone.

In an interview with The Associated Press, Blair said he did not supply Clemens with human growth homone and that he is eager to speak before the grand jury. Blair added that the attention surrounding his alleged involvement in this case drove away many of his top clients and forced him to shut down the club.

Shaun Kelley, owner of a Houston-area fitness center who denied meeting Clemens or providing him with performance-enhancing drugs, told the Daily News that he has not received a subpoena. Kelley was named as a person of interest in the Clemens case in March - see the related article below.
