MANASQUAN, NJ -- The Atlantic Club is inviting other club companies to participate in a program to help raise money to find a cure for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The program, launched by the Manasquan, NJ-based club’s Clubs for the Cure team, is 12 Days of Fitness, scheduled to coincide with the winter holiday season.

During November and December, participating clubs will open their doors to members of the community by inviting them to experience 12 consecutive days of fitness at their local health club with a donation of $20 to ALS.

“We are asking health and fitness clubs around the world to open their doors to support the 12 Days of Fitness Program,” says Patricia A. Laus, CEO of The Atlantic Club and founder of Clubs for the Cure. “The 12 Days of Fitness Program offers clubs the opportunity to invite everyone in their community to expand their wellness and extend their lives. It is a proven promotion that The Atlantic Club as well as numerous health and fitness clubs worldwide have utilized over the years with great success.”

Doug Miller and Ray Gordon, co-founders of Sales Makers International, provided the exclusive rights to 12 Days of Fitness to The Clubs for the Cure/Augie’s Quest Team. This program will be the promotional vehicle used this holiday season to increase the number of health and fitness facilities joining this global effort in finding the cure for ALS. It also provides a new venue to raise donations to support Augie Nieto in reaching his goal of $30 million in donations by March 2010. Nieto and his wife, Lynne, founded Augie’s Quest in 2005 after he was diagnosed with ALS. Nieto was the founder of Life Fitness.

Clubs that are interested in enrolling in Augie’s Quest 12 Days of Fitness can visit The Clubs for the Cure Web site at www.clubsforthecure.com. This site includes sample newspaper ads, direct mail cards, e-mail blasts, press releases, program overview for outreach this upcoming holiday season as well as a special in-club 12 Days of Fitness Program by Sandy Coffman.

Kevin McHugh, COO of The Atlantic Club and Clubs for the Cure, says, “Our goal with the development of our new Web site, donated by Laurie Metrick and his team at Joinonline247.com is to develop an information center platform that will provide not only the tools for clubs to incorporate into their local market but act as a resource to learn more about Augie, Augie’s Quest and other fundraising programs that clubs have been conducting for Augie over the past 18 months.”

The Clubs for the Cure Web site also provides videos that will further explain the upcoming Augie’s Quest 12 Days of Fitness program along with contact numbers and e-mail addresses of the entire sales and marketing support group for this program.

Laus founded the Clubs for the Cure Team in 2006 as a grassroots health and fitness effort to harness the power of members, staff and communities to make a difference for those in need. In 2006, Pat and her team partnered with The Avon Foundation’s Two Day Walk in New York City to find the Cure for Breast Cancer. The effort provided The Avon Foundation not only with their largest team globally but also with a record-level team donation, raising over $1 million during its three years.

In 2007, The Clubs for the Cure Team expanded its mission and partnered with Augie’s Quest.
