LOS ANGELES -- LA Fitness was named as a co-defendant in a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, along with co-defendant Chris Brown, an R&B singer. Plaintiff Robert Rosen claims he was assaulted by Brown’s bodyguard after snapping photos of the singer in LA Fitness’ Universal City facility in May.
According to multiple media reports, Rosen’s suit states that he took a picture of Brown playing basketball, then took off running when people around Brown began approaching him. Rosen says he started running to avoid confrontation.
The suit alleges that Rosen fell down a flight of stairs after being chased by Brown’s bodyguards, who then assaulted him. The photographer also claims a gym employee blocked him from leaving LA Fitness.
The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for multiple claims, including assault and battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress and negligence. Against LA Fitness, the lawsuit alleges negligence, premises liability and false imprisonment, among other claims.
