24 Hour Fitness, San Ramon, CA, held two grand openings on Saturday for clubs in Southern California.

The mayor of Burbank, CA, proclaimed Saturday as Healthy Burbank Day for the grand opening of a new 40,000-square-foot 24 Hour super-sport club. Mayor Jess Talamantes and other city officials joined 24 Hour Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Tony Wells and 24 Hour Division President Danny De La Rosa for the ceremony.

Also on Saturday, 24 Hour opened a new super-sport club in North Hollywood, CA, the company’s 68th club in the greater Los Angeles area. The 43,000-square-foot club will employ about 75 staff members.

“We’re thrilled to be expanding our presence in Los Angeles and making fitness even more accessible to our members in the North Hollywood area,” Danny De La Rosa, 24 Hour division president, said in a statement. “In a city that has been at the forefront of the sustainability movement, we’re excited to bring our members a more environmentally conscious fitness experience.”

Today, 24 Hour kicked off its one-year countdown to the 2012 London Summer Olympics. 24 Hour is a partner of the Unites States Olympic Committee (USOC) and the official fitness center sponsor of the U.S. Olympic Team.

In celebration of the London Olympic Games, 24 Hour is hosting Olympic-themed activities in its clubs and online via Facebook through Sunday. More than 100 Team USA Boot Camps will be offered at select 24 Hour clubs nationwide. Led by knowledgeable personal trainers, the boot camps will feature total body exercises similar to those recommended by the USOC and performed by Olympic athletes.
