SAN MATEO, CA -- A man was found dead outside a 24 Hour Fitness Super Sport club in San Mateo, CA, on Sunday morning.
San Mateo police are investigating the homicide, which took place between midnight and 2 a.m. Sunday, according to multiple media reports. Witnesses have told police that the 41-year-old man—identified as 24 Hour member Jack Quon from nearby Redwood City, CA—had been stabbed to death. Police say the body was discovered in bushes next to a BMW sport utility vehicle. A 911 call was made at around 8 a.m. Sunday, and when police arrived, Quon was pronounced dead at the scene.
Neither 24 Hour Fitness nor the San Mateo police department had further updates on the case when contacted today.
“24 Hour Fitness is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our members,” the company said in a statement. “We wish to extend our deepest sympathy to the member’s family and friends.”
