AquaHab LP
AquaHab LP has reached an agreement to merge its Aquatic & Fitness Center and AquaHab Cherry Hill (NJ) locations with Future Fitness' Cherry Hill location to form a new club — Future Fitness Powered by AFC. Construction of the new club is expected to start this month at the current Future Fitness location in Cherry Hill and is scheduled to open early next year.
Bally Total Fitness
Bally Total Fitness, Chicago, recently closed its Centerville, OH, club and its Englewood, OH, club, according to the Dayton Daily News. Bally spokesperson Larry Larsen told the newspaper that the decision to close the clubs came after a review of Bally's real estate holdings.
24 Hour Fitness
24 Hour Fitness, San Ramon, CA, plans to open a new club in one of Hawaii's two former CompUSA stores on Oahu, the Honolulu Advertiser reports. 24 Hour spokesperson Wendy Yellin told the newspaper the club will feature a pool, sauna and spa as well as a full-size basketball court, a cycling room and other amenities. Officials with the fitness chain have not determined whether a nearby 24 Hour will remain open, Yellin told the newspaper. This will be the first new 24 Hour built in Hawaii in about eight years, according to the report.
World Gym
World Gym International, Los Angeles, has appointed Helen Rockey as its chief operating officer. Rockey has held numerous executive positions with companies in the sporting goods industry, including Nike, Brooks and Just For Feet. The Joyce J. Cammilleri family purchased World Gym from Planet Fitness last December.
