FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — With its recent acquisition of American Bodyworks, Diversified Health and Fitness is expanding the brand with an additional 10 locations projected to open in the first and second quarters of this year.
American Bodyworks, Marietta, GA, has 22 locations, and all but one of them is in the state of Georgia. (The other is in Tallahassee, FL.) Its clubs typically range from 3,000 to 6,000 square feet.
Fort Lauderdale, FL-based Diversified Health and Fitness announced its acquisition of American Bodyworks in November.
“Diversified Health and Fitness is a great match for us in terms of an acquisition partner,” Robert Parrish, president of American Bodyworks, said in a statement. “The move will bring together a portfolio of large, coed clubs built on a great concept with the operational expertise of a team that has developed and sold over 1,000 clubs nationwide.”
Diversified Health, founded in 2007, also owns clubs such as Butterfly Life, 1-2-3 Fit and Shape Xpress. The acquisition of American Bodyworks expands the company's portfolio to more than 200 clubs.
“The American Bodyworks brand is solid,” Diversified Health CEO Roger Wittenberns said in a statement. “The 10,000-square-foot-plus coed model is a concept that allows for stability, growth and consistent cash flow. We commend the founders of American Bodyworks on their success in our industry, and we look forward to taking their concept to the next level.”
