Fluidity Studio Barre Makes Commercial Debut

It’s no secret that as more women (and men!) lift, tone and tuck at their local barre studio, it’s traditional fitness facilities who feel the burn. The Fluidity Studio Barre debuts just in time to give those fitness facilities a big advantage – in a product so functional and beautifully designed, it’s already being described by industry insiders as a “piece of art.”

The Fluidity Studio Barre debuted to instructors and personal trainers attending the IDEA World Fitness Convention in Anaheim and if first impressions are lasting impressions, the Fluidity Studio Barre is poised to become a permanent fixture in the commercial fitness space atop a category that is the fastest growing in the group fitness industry.

What’s all the buzz about? The patented Fluidity Studio Barre features the stability of a wall-mounted barre and the portability of a freestanding unit. It rolls into the center of a room and sets up in three easy steps so facilities can remain flexible with space and class scheduling. The Barre’s unique dual-user design maximizes workout room space and provides each member their own personal barre space. Its portability allows students to situate their barre so that they have optimal view of the instructor and vice versa. Unlike a wall-mounted barre, the Fluidity Barre is fully height-adjustable allowing users to work in correct alignment throughout the workout. And unlike a traditional freestanding barre, the Fluidity Barre allows a user to push and extend back in any direction – key to developing whole-body strength, flexibility, and the long lean lines of a dancers’ body.

Fluidity’s launch to the commercial market follows the Company’s huge success in the home market where it has sold over 350,000 Fluidity Home Barres; spent more than $50M in television advertising; and cultivated an intensely loyal following with a workout of simple yet powerful movements that consistently delivers astonishing results. According to new VP of Sales Dan Toigo, the commercial launch comes at a perfect time “Traditional fitness facilities are losing members to barre studios and members are wanting the personal touch and boutique atmosphere of a studio. The Fluidity Studio Barre allows traditional fitness facilities to instantly create a beautiful barre studio within their existing space.”

In fact, this is not the Company’s first step into the commercial space. Fluidity Founder and former Lotte Berk Instructor Michelle Austin introduced Fluidity to a pilot club program in New York City in 2002 with the Fluidity Studio Barre prototype. While the Company turned its attention to the home market, this club pilot program continued to excel. According to Maryann Donner, Group Fitness Director, New York Health & Racquet Club “Fluidity classes are packed with enthusiastic followers who swear that Fluidity delivers results like nothing else. Our members arrive 30 minutes early just to secure themselves a spot in class. It’s exceeded all of our expectations!” With the new Fluidity Studio Barre now available, they plan to expand Fluidity to all of their locations.
