Director of campus recreation, Department of Athletics & Recreation, Northeastern University, Boston
Gene Grzywna has been director of campus recreation at Northeastern University since 1980. He has been an active member of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) since he joined the group in 1978.
Grzywna has served in numerous capacities at NIRSA, including state director for Massachusetts and region I vice president. He also has chaired the NIRSA Membership Committee several times and has attended every NIRSA national conference since 1980. He was the first recipient of the NIRSA Region I Award of Merit and the first member of the NIRSA Gold Club for Membership Recruitment.
Grzywna also has worked for the New England Patriots since 1986 and the New England Revolution since 1996, as part of the game day operations staff.
He holds a masters degree in sports studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
