DSWFitness announced immediate availability of its new continuing education course Lifestyle Wellness Coaching, Second Edition. The course uses the Lifestyle Wellness Coaching, Second Edition, textbook by Jim Gavin, PhD, and Madeleine Mcbrearty, PhD.

“The second edition of the Lifestyle Wellness Coaching continuing education course isn’t just an introduction to coaching; it is a thorough examination of what wellness coaching means and how it differs from other health, wellness, and fitness roles, and it lays out a systematic process on guiding, supporting and motivating clients. The course is unique in how the material encourages students to personally experience the content,” says Gwen Hyatt, president and CEO of DSWFitness.

In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, it is not uncommon to feel stressed, overworked, and tired. Trying to eke out every minute of productivity during the day can often cause physical fitness to fall by the wayside or be completely abandoned. Wellness coaches are relative newcomers to the field of health, wellness, and fitness.

Wellness coaches support an overall mind and body wellness, not just a focus on physical fitness. Wellness coaches are skilled at incorporating a client’s wellness goals into practical tips that work with the client’s lifestyle. Wellness coaching can move a person from “I will” to “I am” while addressing many aspects of a client’s challenges and struggles.

The second edition of the Lifestyle Wellness Coaching continuing education course is a rich and diverse course that covers various tools a coach needs in order to work with clients to create healthy lifestyles. An important aspect of wellness coaching is effective communication. Students will learn and understand how to use direct communication to provide feedback; address confrontations; share self-disclosure; and provide information, instruction, and advice throughout the coaching relationship.

"As a personal trainer, I have tried for a couple of years to go beyond the norm of client–trainer interaction. This course will allow me to examine my clients’ needs from a slightly different point of view." —J. Hering, Plano, TX
