Position Title: Fitness/Wellness: Assistant Director

General Information:

Indiana University’s Division of Recreational Sports, recognized by

Sports Illustrated on Campus

as being “perhaps the best recreational sports program in the nation”, is seeking an experienced candidate to oversee the division’s strength and conditioning and personal training programs. The Assistant Director of Fitness/Wellness is responsible for providing supervision and leadership for the daily operations of multiple fitness facilities within the Division of Recreational Sports. In addition the Assistant Director provides leadership for an expanding personal training program. Programming offered in these areas is designed to be consistent with a fitness for health model and to enhance the wellbeing of an apparently healthy population. Primary external customer groups include university students, faculty, staff, and members of the public. Leadership and supervision of hourly strength/conditioning consultants (50-60), trainers (20-30), graduate assistants, program assistants, and program support staff is a primary responsibility of this position. In addition, the assistant director is responsible for measuring and enhancing participant satisfaction with fitness related offerings. The assistant director is also responsible for budgetary management, vendor relations, and equipment purchasing. Salary range is $30,000 to 35,000. Qualifications: BS in Exercise Science or related field required, MS preferred. Two to four years experience supervising strength and conditioning staff and personal trainers required. Experience working with a student development model is desirable. ACSM Health Fitness Instructor, ACE Personal Trainer, and or CSCS certification preferred.
