Greetings from a rainy, chilly Chicago, where the weather outside makes you feel good to be inside all day. (Thank you, Jenn Shaver, for that thought.)
The editorial staff arrived here around 9:30 a.m. It's great to stay in a hotel attached to the show. That means we won't have to do a lot of (Yiddish term alert) schlepping around this week. (Thank you, Pam Kufahl, for that thought.)
I attended a couple of seminars already, both focused on business operations. The first one was led by our friend Michael Scott Scudder, who talked about growing your business in tough times. As always, Michael gave a no-holds-barred opinion on the state of the industry.
The other seminar, led by CheckFree's Ron Poliseno, focused on guarding your members' financial data. A lot of what Ron discussed was information we featured last year on the topic of PCI compliance.
Most of the Club Industry gang is already here. Our welcome reception is coming up in about an hour, so I've got to go back to the room and powder my nose. If anything unusual happens at the reception, we'll let you know.
