Giving Thanks in the Fitness Industry

As you sit around the table tomorrow surrounded by family, friends and mounds of food, you likely will be thinking about what you are grateful for this holiday. Stopping for just one day to count your blessings and to tell others that you are grateful for them can be a renewing experience. And if you start taking a few minutes each day to recount what you were grateful for that day, you may be surprised by how positive your life can become, as you refocus to find the positives instead of looking for the negatives.

In addition to my family, friends, health, job, home, car, food and other items that I think most people give thanks for, I would like to add some industry-specific items to my list.

I am thankful for our fabulous readers who offer their comments and suggestions, who send us story leads and who take time to be interviewed for stories. I am grateful for our print and online columnists who take time out of their busy schedules to write informative pieces for us. I am grateful for the speakers who come to our show each year to share their knowledge and better the industry. I am thankful for our advertisers who believe that despite a tough economy, marketing with our franchise is still a “must” for them. I am thankful for the wonderful people I work with who not only know what they are doing but are good at doing it.

I also am grateful to have worked for more than 10 years serving an industry that provides such a valuable service. Even though we do not work directly with your members, I like to think that the services we provide you help you serve your members better. In that small way, I believe that Club Industry is a part of the solution to our country’s health woes.
