Club Industry received an early gift this month when we won an Eddie Award for Best Single Article in the Business-to-Business Recreation/Sports/Outdoor category.
When you were a child, didn’t you beg your parents to let you open at least one Christmas present early? I did. But if your parents were like mine, they never let you do so.
However, Club Industry received an early gift this month when we won a FOLIO: magazine Eddie Award for Best Single Article in the Business-to-Business Recreation/Sports/Outdoor category for Executive Editor Stuart Goldman’s profile of Joe Cirulli in our September 2012 issue. The profile, “Survivor,” shared the struggles that Cirulli faced when getting into the fitness industry and the success he has built in Gainesville, FL, with his Gainesville Health and Fitness Centers.
Club Industry has been on an Eddie Award roll. This marks the fourth consecutive year in which we have won an Eddie Award, starting with Stuart’s wins in 2010 (for a profile of Jack LaLanne) and 2011 (for his profile of Curt Beusman, founder of Saw Mill Club) and continuing with my win last year for a story about the rise of boxing clubs (while Stuart also contributed a silver Eddie that year for his story on women-only clubs).
Boy, opening a present a little early feels good! Too bad Mom and Dad still stand firm on their rule of no gifts before Christmas Eve.
