An initiative by Best Fitness, Nashua, NH, to better the health of the city of Erie, PA, attracted more than 350 community members to the fitness facility last month. The program, known as OctoberBest, offered a free 30-day membership for nonmembers in the community.
Club Industry to Return to Chicago after Stopping in Vegas
The Club Industry conference and trade show’s move from McCormick Place in Chicago to the Las Vegas Convention Center was the topic of much conversation during the Oct. 10-12 show. Concluding its 27th year, the show’s change in location helped attract more West Coast attendees along with its Midwest and East Coast audience. Next year, the show will return to McCormick Place in Chicago, Oct. 23-25.

YMCA of South Alabama to Hold Board Election in Response to Member Lawsuit
In response to a lawsuit between its members and regional YMCA board, The YMCA of South Alabama plans to hold elections this week for a new board. After the board has been reconstituted, the controversial strategic plan that led to the member lawsuit would be subject to a vote in order to move forward.
